Club runs are back!
16 April 2021
As some restrictions lifted this week and following Cycling Ireland advice, a Tuesday group went out for their first group spin in a very long time.
The Committee also met this week to get planning for the season ahead. A video update from Anne is available in our WhatsApp Group.
New Club Buffs
To thank all our wonderful club members for their support during the lockdowns, new buffs are on the way for all club members. They’ll be available at all club runs over the next few weeks. Just ask for one. We’ll be selling extra buffs at £5 each and the money raised will go to our nominated charity, Marie Curie NI.

We would like to thank Garth and Allison from Powerhouse Sport in Lisburn for our fantastic new kit. We have worked with them over the last 6 years and look forward to the years ahead. They supply a fast and professional service with a great quality of kits and nothing was ever a problem. So thanks again from us all at Lagan Valley CC and look forward to our first group ride after lockdown. π΄βοΈπ΄π»βοΈπ΄βοΈπ΄π»βοΈβ€οΈππ

Six years since we started out as Saturday Morning Cycling Club, we’re delighted to announce we have changed our name to Lagan Valley Cycling Clubβ€οΈππ We started with five lads and one lady going out at 6am on Saturday mornings, so as to be back for 9am. A few more started coming out with us and SMCC Lisburn was born πͺ Over the years the club has grown to over 50 members, cycling some memorable routes across Northern Ireland and even as far away as Majorca, with many friends made along the way. Fundraising is very important to our club and charity cycles have raised money for the NI Children’s Hospice, Parkview Special School, Lisburn Special Olympic Team and NI Air Ambulance. Every April we host the Lagan Valley Challenge sportive attracting cyclists from other clubs and raising funds for local charitiesπ
Lagan Valley Cycling Club is a sociable and friendly club. New members are welcome and we have different levels of club runs covering 30 – 50 + miles. Club members participate in a number of sportive events, dual and triathlon events and winter mountain biking on local trails to complement their regular road cycling ridesπ΄βοΈπ΄πΌβοΈ Keep an eye out on the road for club members in our new kit, individually getting their daily exercise whilst we’re in lockdown! We think it looks brilliant and hope to be out on club rides when current restrictions are liftedβοΈπ Stay safe.

COVID-19 Notice Given the current developments taking place with regards to the spread of COVID-19 Lagan Valley Cycling Club has made the difficult decision to cancel all official club runs until further notice as recommended by Cycling Ireland with immediate effect. This decision was not been taken lightly and will continue to be reviewed over the weeks ahead. Our up coming Sportive on the 19th April has been cancelled. All online entry’s will be fully refunded and confirmed by email. Members are encouraged to cycle individually and not in groups. Members are encouraged to observe the hygiene precautions being advised. We will continue to closely monitor all the advice from WHO, Public Health Agency and Cycling Ireland. The decision is motivated by preserving the health and safety of all our club members, their families and the wider and vulnerable community. We would like to thank everyone for their support and patience during these difficult and uncertain weeks ahead. Lagan Valley Cycling Club
